The Wonders Of Rafaël Rozendaal

Made for, and created by, those with a little too much time on their hands. Surreal games and visual wonders in the form of single serving websites, from Amsterdam based artist Rafaël Rozendaal. Here's itwillneverbethesame.com to get you started.

Microscopic Type

Typographer Craig Ward describes how he created this year's Creative Review Annual cover out of pollen cells. In fact, that's about the whole story really. Still very interesting though.

The Temper Trap: Love Lost

Another beautiful piece of work from director Dougal Wilson. This time for the Temper Trap's track Love Lost.

Iron Man + AC/DC = Awesome

How do you make Dirty Dancing appeal to dudes? Just sprinkle it with some Ironman and AC/DC of course. There's actually a series of these, all done in Maya.

Right Music Wrongs

Droga 5's campaign for Virgin Mobile features Vanilla Ice apologizing to Australia for his part in the Music wrongs of the past. Nice.

Philips Versus The Sun

Great idea. Philips Wake-Up Light wakes up a rooster. Sold. Done. Fin. Very well shot and edited video too. By Tribal DDB Amsterdam.

The McLaren MP4-12C Configurator

Gorgeous site from AKQA for the McLaren MP4-12C. Really nice to play around with; very touchy-feely, well crafted, and some lovely sound design too. The site does exactly what it says on the tin - allows you to customize your own McLaren using the virtual Configurator. Well worth a play, if nothing else than for the cool interface design.

Alice for the iPad

Having seen this trailer for Atomic Antelope's Alice for the iPad, I'm feeling very excited about its content opportunities. Publishing seems to have finally moved into the 21st Century and once again Apple is at the forefront of the revolution.

A Hundred Lovers

So very cool. For Diesel's Spring/Summer 2010 Collection, Anomaly London and Stink Digital have created this interactive online catalogue, which doubles as the music promo for emerging artist Josep Xorto. The song's actually pretty cool, and the interactivity of the video itself is just so beautifully simple. A wonderfully original way of presenting another clothes line.

Christian Bale vs Tiger Woods

Tiger Wood's infidelity is no secret. Acenture and AT&T dropped their sponsorships almost immediately. Nike didn't. They put out this very emotional spot supporting him. Then came this, a stroke of genius. Make sure you've seen the original Christian Bale rant first though.

Astoria Scum River Bridge

I love it when people do stuff like this. Astoria Scum River Bridge is a gift to the pedestrians of Astoria in the absence of successful municipal efforts to fix a twenty year leak. On January 25th, Jason Eppink and Posterchild's Astoria Scum River Bridge was the subject of a commendation from the NYC Council, accompanied by a pledge to work with Amtrak to re-route Astoria Scum River off the pavement.

Julien Berthier

Lovely work from French mulitmedia artist Julien Berthier. Above is Love Love, a permanent and mobile image of a wrecked ship that has become a functional and safe leisure object. Other works include a portable Haussmannian-style balcony service and a mounted Parisian facade, which still exists 4 years later.

Face Pong

Matt Ditton has put together this game of pong using face tracking. I don't actually think it's a good fit, but there are certainly some wonderful things you could do with this kind of technology. Imagine being able to play headers with Wayne Rooney for instance. It's all so very exciting.
